Note | 1835 | 1835 James Current Jr. sold his possessions, including 300 acres of land in Virginia, and with the rest of the family except Nancy, moved to Henry County, Indiana. It was custom at that time for the neighbors and relatives to accompany the movers for the first day and camp with them the first night. The next morning when it was time to say good bye's and all were ready to start onward to Indiana, the others to return to Virginia, Nancy jumped from the wagon she was in, and ran to her lover, James Keener who mounted on his horse, pulled her up into the saddle, and together they returned home to be married. Later, they moved to Indiana and on to Kansas where they lived many years and raised ten children. |
