After drinking tolerably free of liquor, they left Mr. Landis and pursued their journey. As soon as they had crossed that gentleman's mill dam they started their horses under the lash, and in a very short time Mr. Clary was thrown from his horse against a tree that stood on the roadside, and in a few moments breathed his last. He has a wife and two small infants from whom he had been absent about 10 days. He was in general a steady, sober young man and has an aged father and numerous connections living to mourn his loss. |
