Genevieve Kathryne Ricker was born at Hospers, Iowa, on June 27, 1903 where she lived until 1909 when the family moved to a farm near Granville until 1917 when they went to Hope, N.D., to farm. here she graduated from hight school ad taught school for two years. Later she worked for a telephone company in Chicago for a year, and then returned to Hope.

It was at Hope that she was married to Joseph H. Graff on Feb. 3, 1926. They started farming at Granville, Iowa where they lived until 1939 when they bouth the home place east of Lake Park where she lived until her death.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of St. Mary's Rosary Society of Spirit Lake, and of the Christian Mothers Society of Granville.

To this union were born seven children: Quentin, who died in 1956 at the age of 29, Evelyn who died an infant in 1930; Pauline; John deceased as infant in 1933; Marlene, Geraldine and Dennis.

Surviving are the husband Joe Graff; three daughters, Pauline, Mrs. J.A. Baughman of Atchison, Kansas; Marlene, Mrs. J.T. Umbarger of Omaha, Nebr; and Geraldine at home, and one son Dennis at home. There are also seven grandchildren who mourn. A brother Earle Ricker lives at Hope, N.D., and a brother Archie is deceased. Her father died in 1935 and her mother passed away in 1947.

Mrs. Graff had been in failing health the last five years brought on by a series of heart strokes. her condition worsened last week and on Monday she was taken to the Spirit Lake hospital where she passed away Tuesday night, Dec. 13 of a cerebral hemorrhage. She was 57 years, 5 months and 16 days of age.

Funeral services were held Friday Dec 16 at St. Mary's Catholic church at Spirit Lake at 10 a.m. Solemn requiem mass was sung by Rev. Fr. Staber of Spirit Lake; Rev. Fitzpatrick of Milford was deacon, and Rev. S. Grady of Humboldt was subdeacon.

Pallbearers were Frank Schierholt Sr., Wm. McFarland, Don Newbrough, James Jaycox, Wm. Arthur and George Kuhn.

Interment was in St. Margaret's Cemetery at Spirit Laek.

Mrs. Graff was a devoted wife and mother, and a friend to all who knew her. The many floral tributes and spiritual bouquets attested to the high esteem in which she was held.
